Corporate responsibility for industrial incidents

Conclusion

This course has looked at the development of civil liability for the physical harm caused to workers by business activity and outlined the health and safety regime in the United Kingdom. It has also examined the basics of legal accountability in the English legal system, as achieved by way of prosecutions using the Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007, and explored whether the 2007 Act is likely to improve significantly the CSR of businesses across industry sectors with UK-based management.

Finally, the course has distinguished between the approaches taken to corporate manslaughter in different jurisdictions and explained the development of principles of international and human rights law that have relevance to safe working practices and the role of CSR policies in this context. Specifically, you have used this knowledge to research and evaluate the case study of Bhopal.
