Life cycle assessment is a methodology that in the last decade has gone through a considerable level of standardisation. So when you are going to use life cycle assessment, you need to take into consideration that there is a number of quite specific rules that you need to follow. Number 2. Life cycle assessment is a very data-intensive process. Take into consideration that the quality of the results that you are going to obtain are going to be dependent, in a big measure, on the amount and quality of the data that you can obtain. It's very important to take into consideration here that when you are studying any specific system, you're going to try to get as much direct or foreground data-- data specific for that system. In that way, you will get an answer, a result that is closer to what you are actually studying. Number 3. Although we've said that life cycle assessment is a very standardised methodology, at the same time, since it needs to be applied to a wide range of products and services, it allows for a considerable amount of flexibility. So very important aspect when you're going to apply life cycle assessment is that you need to get very familiar with the process you're studying in order for you to establish or determine the aspects that are going to allow you to get the results that you need. Number 4. Life cycle assessment is a methodology that will allow you to quantify and evaluate environmental impacts of any given product or service. However, taking into consideration that the result that you're going to obtain is not always a very clear, black and white answer, on the contrary, what you will obtain many times or most times is a more complex and nuanced answer since you're going to have a quantification of the impact in a wide range of categories, which have as a goal to inform or help in decision-making processes.
