It is an online estate agency, which has been running for about a year and a half. We’re now the fourteenth largest estate agent in Britain. And the aim is just to revolutionise the property market by bringing it online.

EVAN DAVIS

And you are how old now?

AKSHAY RUPARELIA:

Now 19 years old.

EVAN DAVIS

So you started the business when you were-----?

AKSHAY RUPARELIA:

Seventeen.

EVAN DAVIS

Seventeen?

AKSHAY RUPARELIA:

Yes.

EVAN DAVIS

And just in terms of what the product is, people will be familiar with Rightmove and Zoopla if they’ve moved house in the last 10 years probably. And it’s, it’s a web-based product.

AKSHAY RUPARELIA:

Yeah, it’s a web-based product, so instead of the normal estate agency commission, we sell homes from £99.

EVAN DAVIS

Your commission is £99 – not the home, we should probably clarify.

AKSHAY RUPARELIA:

Yes.

EVAN DAVIS

Okay. Let me introduce my third guest and my youngest guest, Henry Patterson. Henry, your business is called Not Before Tea. And you’re here with your mother, Becky. We’ll hear from Becky in a sec. Just tell us what the business is, Henry.

HENRY PATTERSON:

So Not Before Tea is a children’s brand selling lots of different products based around a book I wrote, and then my brand-new business Young and Mighty is kind of like an online platform to help young people to turn their idea in, into kind of a thing, whether it be a business-----

EVAN DAVIS

Right.

HENRY PATTERSON:

-----or just selling tee shirts on the street.

EVAN DAVIS

So it’s helping them to be like you in fact, is that right? Launch their own product and-----?

HENRY PATTERSON:

Yes, kind of.

EVAN DAVIS

I’m trying to get what the word is for your business. Merchandising? Is that what it is? It’s basically you’ve got the characters-----

HENRY PATTERSON:

Yeah.

EVAN DAVIS

What are the characters called?

HENRY PATTERSON:

So we have eight different characters. We have a mouse called Pip, Sherb the Owl, Brendan the Badger, Vera the Vole-----

EVAN DAVIS

HENRY PATTERSON:

Lots of animals.

EVAN DAVIS

But in terms of what people do, they can buy the book, or they can go to the website and buy merchandise related to the characters.

HENRY PATTERSON:

Yes.

EVAN DAVIS

And there’s more on the website as well I think, isn’t there?

HENRY PATTERSON:

Yep.
