Mobile app Stellarium

We have purchased the app for our iPad.    It does not allow us to set Coast Teide as our location.   Stellarium have said they only have towns over 1000people on their data base. They suggest a neighbouring town called Vilaflor.

Hi John;

Yes, the observatory is in a pretty remote location in the volcanic interior of the island - but anywhere on Tenerife is fine, so Vilaflor is quite OK.  Looks like a nice place to visit, too !

Thank you.    That’s a relief!      Next question.  On our desktop, we can’t find the location choice and have our home location set almost by default.   Any thoughts?

Hi John;

On the desktop version, there are some controls on the left-hand side of the window that are hidden - they only appear when you slide your mouse over to the left hand edge of the screen, towards the bottom.

The top one of these (star-shaped icon representing compass points) will open the location window (or you can try the F6 key).

Getting started

We had clicked on the Web version and we’re going round in circles.   I then spotted the different ways of downloading    After installing, I think it was Windows 64 version, the location screen was easy to find.

Many thanks for your guidance.    The screenshot helped too, to tick the right boxes to set Teide etc

I may be back!!
