β-lactamase

An enzyme that destroys β-lactam antibiotics by hydrolysing the β-lactam ring.

β-lactamase inhibitor

An enzyme inhibitor that prevents the degradation of β-lactam antibiotics by β-lactamases. Used as resistance breakers.
