3 Summary of Week 2

Your vocabulary of terms to describe what you hear now includes contour, range and register. You can now describe a piece of music using correct terms for the elements rhythm, melody and timbre. So far you have learned about elements of music which we might describe as horizontal in that you focus on one pitch at a time (rhythm, melody and timbre). Next week you will start to investigate how to listen to elements in which notes (pitches) are heard simultaneously, that is, harmony.
