7 Summary of Week 8
In week eight you have considered data; different types of data and different modes of sampling. Learners often enjoy collecting data and creating charts and graphs to represent the data. It is much more difficult to analyse data and to use that analysis to tell the story behind the data.
You also looked at probability and the many misconceptions that learners may bring to problems which require the use of probability to solve them.
You should now be able to:
- encourage learners to think about how they will collect and record data
- use effective ways to teach learners about three different averages and the range which develop an understanding of what these show and when the use of each is appropriate
- identify common misconceptions in probability and how to address these.
