Digital thinking tools for better decision making

4.2 The argument continues …

Most strikingly, some of the harbingers of the inevitable AI supremacy and critics of free will and consciousness appear to change their perspective when discussing the implications of their theories and predictions:

All the predictions that pepper this book are no more than an attempt to discuss present-day dilemmas, and an invitation to change the future.

(Harari, 2016, pp. 74–5)

To a reader of Harari’s book, this recommendation may come as a surprise, as it presents a constant and quite one-sided critique of the concepts of consciousness and free will. If the author’s arguments hold water and both consciousness and free will are illusions, surely inviting the reader to change the future is futile?
