Loomio is "a user-friendly tool for collaborative decision-making: not majority-rules polling, but actually coming up with solutions that work for everyone". It is "free and open source software for anyone, anywhere, to participate in decisions that affect them".

It was initiated by designers & developers and social movement activists and encourages people to participate through an online platform. Loomio is global in orientation and concerned with democracy, politics & representation

It was launched in 2012 and is ongoing.
