Professional biography

Maddie  recently completed her doctorate at The Open University, entitled:  Sexuality, relationships and reproductive choices in young adults with life-limiting and/or life-threatening conditions. She is Chair of The Open University’s Sexuality Alliance and a Visiting Fellow engaged in projects related to sexuality and people with life limiting conditions on behalf of The Open University Sexuality Alliance . Maddie originally trained as a nurse, midwife and as a health visitor. She is a qualified lawyer and previously practised as a solicitor in two London law firms, specialising in family and health care law and was the children’s policy officer at the Law Society of England and Wales. More recently she was Chief Executive at Iain Rennie Hospice at Home, now Rennie Grove Hospice, Head of Children’s Strategy at the former Healthcare Commission, now Care Quality Commission and Director of Care Development at Together for Short Lives. Following her retirement, she joined the Open University to do her PhD.
