About me

Vicky's teaching and research focuses on elements of environmental study. This includes the value of elements to the environment, such as sea water quality, and how society reacts both to the generation of these values and their uses. Vicky leads the economics line of study across different OU modules of study in relation to the environment.

Vicky has a long-standing interest in food, with backgrounds connected to both health and rural development. Currently she works on the development of a research project looking at the engagement in passions relating to food and the role of these in terms of development of local food initiatives.

Vicky's research and industry background provide the basis for her interdisciplinary teaching involvement at The Open University. She leads the economics line of study across different OU modules of study in relation to the environment. Vicky is involved in the development of teaching materials and also direct student contact, introducing students to subjects including economics, geography, environment and development. She was Chair of the module DD102: Introducing the Social Sciences and wrote elements of and remain on the module team for DST206: Environment: sharing a dynamic planet.  Currently Vicky works on two production modules DD213: Environment and Society and DD319: Environmental policy.
