About me
Dr Volker Patent holds a position as lecturer in the School of Psychology at the Open University, where he is Employability lead for Psychology. He obtained his PhD in 2015 from the Open University. He is a Chartered Psychologist and has held faculty positions at Bedfordshire University and worked freelance as a trainer, consultant and assessment specialist in industry. He is also a practising life coach and Firewalking instructor. His research interests focus on trust and personality, trust in selection/recruitment, mentoring and coaching, trust in individual and organisational decision-making and trust in politics.
His research appears in the British Journal of Social Work, in Searle & Skinner (2011) Trust in Human Resource Management, and he has had conference papers accepted at FINT, EAWOP ENESER, and the International Congress on Assessment Center Methods.
Biography
Dr Volker Patent is a Chartered Psychologist and working in the fields of Business Psychology and Coaching. He currently holds a position as lecturer in the School of Psychology at the Open University, where he is Employability lead for the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. He obtained his PhD in 2015 from the Open University in the area of trust in HR. He has held teaching and consultancy roles at Bedfordshire University, Putteridgebury management centre, worked freelance as a trainer, consultant, and assessment specialist (QinetiQ, Accenture, EDF, Cranfield University), medical recruitment and public engagement (Wellcome). His research focuses on trust in organisations, mentoring and coaching, and trust in individual and organisational decision-making. His research appears in the British Journal of Social Work, Journal of Trust research, in Searle & Skinner (2011) Trust in Human Resource Management, and he has presented papers at FINT, EAWOP, ENESER, ALT C, Advance HE and the International Congress on Assessment Center Methods.
