Biography

I was a full time carer for my lovely life partner and wife who I met and married 40 years ago, sadly she passed away in 2023. Her death and absence have left a huge hole in my life. .
l first studied with the OU in the 1990's when I achieved my Bsc degree in systems and psychology. My wife helped me study, and looked after our home and family, allowing me the time to study and to attend summer schools Achieving my degree is as much hers as it is mine..
When I left work in 2020, I took up voluntary work with a local environmental restoration group, I still help out when I can, and now do voluntary work at our local hospital, and for an advice agency
Like many others I studied while working full time, It was an experience I thoroughly enjoyed, especially the summer schools which gave me a chance to meet other students.
I used my degree as my foundation for work, and used the study skills I learned to do vocational courses in my various roles.
Outside of the OU and work, I love walking, cycling, trying to keep fit (more trying than achieving these days). I love reading about the late Roman and Anglo Saxon periods., and visiting historical sites. I am working through openlearn courses and find the course contents and the questions stimulating and thought provoking.
IM not thinking of doing a post graduate yet, but who knows what roads lie ahead.
