Figure 9(a) shows a sphere with the surface made up of triangles; the surface is not smooth. Figure 9(b) shows a sphere similar but it has more details and a greater number of triangles. The surface is smoother. Figure 9(c) once again has more details than 9(b) as a result the surface is smoother.
