In this course you studied a number of field testing methods for determining water quality. These used commercially available kits which applied standard methods adapted for on-site measurement. You also looked at a kit used widely to determine microbial activity.
You examined the underlying chemical and physical principles and some of the innovative technology enabling portability and expedient on-site measurement.
You considered some of the principles of sampling, and this was extended to a general appraisal of the practicalities involved in carrying out field measurements including health and safety considerations.
