When looking to identify fungus, we need to look for the defining characteristics of each individual species. Some can be fairly straightforward, as this bolete, Boletus luridus, in the fact that it has markings on the stem that are distinctive. And the flesh changes to a deep blue as soon as it is damaged. And I can show you this very easily by just drawing on there, an instant change that gives me a very straightforward identification.
