3.3.2 Inspection
Monitoring and inspection are closely related, and both are usually implemented as top-down approaches. They check that quality, personnel, processes, procedures, and so on, meet such things as standards, tolerances and codes of practice. However, an often used distinction is that inspection is most usually employed as a one-off activity (even if carried out on a regular basis), whereas monitoring is an ongoing activity (even though it might be time-limited).
