8.2 Advantages of the TI-84 calculator

8.2.1Speed

The calculator takes the tedium out of long calculations with numbers that would be fearsome to do in your head or time-consuming to do with pencil and paper. For example, the calculator takes about the same time to multiply 123.57 by 0.598 as to do 2 × 2: that is, a fraction of a second. ‘Long division is a thing of the past for me now I have a good calculator’, said one student. ‘It will add, subtract, multiply, divide numbers and lots more, in the blink of an eyelid. It saves me so much time on long calculations.’
