What is renewable energy? What types of renewable energy are there and could they provide a realistic alternative to fossil fuels in the century to come?

The course explores the physical principles behind the main renewable energy technologies: solar, biomass, hydroelectric, wind and wave power. It looks at their economics, environmental impact, present status, future prospects and how they might be integrated into the global energy infrastructure. When you’ve completed the course you should be able to give your own answer to the course question: 'Can renewable energy power the world?'

On completion of this course you will earn a digital badge and a Statement of Participation.
