Updated Friday, 1st March 2019

After watching the videos have a go at conjuring up your own wild weather, capture it via video or photograph and send your results to us.

Tips for sharing your experiment

  1. First log in or register if you haven't already done so. You can find a link below this list or at the top of the page. Make sure you bookmark this page so you can come back to it after the login/registration process.
  2. Choose the type of experiment you'd like to create (image or video). If you're capturing your finding on video, you might like to watch this guide to making video.
  3. Give your experiment a title. By describing the key issue or theme as succinctly as possible, other people will be more likely to view it. Try to avoid generic titles like "Joe Bloggs's experiment", unless you're sure lots of people will be looking for your name!
  4. Add your text content in the body text area.
  5. If you're creating a video diary, you'll need to first upload it to a site like YouTube or Vimeo. Copy the embed code from the relevant site and paste it into the form below. For an image diary, upload the image(s) from your computer and add a short, descriptive caption to each.
  6. You can then choose a category for the experimental diary. Click on any tags that relate to your content—tagging your content makes it easier for other people to find.
  7. If your experiment relates to a specfic location, find it on the map.
  8. Add a short summary—a sentence or so—that decribes your content.
  9. Then add a cover image. This is the main image people will see when browsing your wild weather kitchen experiments results. This should be 185px wide by 106px high. The more interesting and unique the image, the more it will stand out!
  10. Here are some terms and conditions that apply to sharing diaries. When you press submit, we'll look over it to make sure everything's as it should be, then upload it to the site for others to see. If your diary hasn't appeared on the site after a week, email us and we'll look into it.
  11. Once your diary is published it will appear in the Your Wild Weather Kitchen Experiments section and you'll be able to find it My OpenLearn. Note that you can't make changes to an existing diary.
