I'm bloody petrified, to be honest. I don't think there's the economic or political impetus to properly get behind it at the moment. There's been a lot of noise. And there's a little bit more funding coming through. But I don't think it's nearly enough. And it's also not joined up.

I think it's terrifying. I think that you can definitely imagine a situation where people are coming in with bacteria that we don't currently have tools for.

By 2050, 10 million people will die from drug resistant infections around the world, which is more people than die of cancer at the moment.

I'm not too worried for people in the rich West. I think bringing new, broad-spectrum antibiotics to market for poor parts of the world, where they're needed, is going to be much more difficult.
