PRITHVI:
I think, probably, the answer for identifying autism in different parts of the world would have to be about actually constructing this definition together from people from different parts of the world. Because at present, the research on autism has been primarily coming from America, Europe, and UK and therefore, is based on these norms that are child appropriate in this context.
So it's about having a dialogue and bringing information from other parts to say, would you consider this as a disability or a difference, or not? And there's emerging research on that topic, but it's something that we still need to probably, double up and look at diagnostic tools and see how culturally relevant they are for people from across the world.
