3.3 Moving to a campaign or just getting to work?
The main point of divergence between workplace and community organising is whether the organisation you are building is a campaigning organisation. While some trade unions do use their resources to provide services to members, their primary role is in campaigning for workplace change. Community organisations, on the other hand, are much more varied. Predicated on collectivising resources and managing them democratically, community organisations do not always use these resources for campaigning. The following section outlines some examples of common practices in community organising.
