2 Legislation and the Scottish Parliament
The Scottish Parliament has had power to make law on devolved matters since 1999 (the first Act was passed by the Parliament on 8 September 1999). This section covers legislation of the current Scottish Parliament. Some Acts of the old Scottish Parliament (1424 till 1707) are still valid, but are not covered here. There are a number of differences between the drafting and considertaion of legislation in the Scottish and UK Parliaments and this section explores legislation in the Scottish Parliament.
