Creating Hackney as Home logo Copyrighted image Icon Copyright: Creating Hackney as Home Creating Hackney as Home is a research project that "uses participatory video production to explore how young people experience a sense of home and belonging in the London Borough of Hackney. The project's five peer researchers spent the summer of 2013 creating short films that capture their experience of living in Hackney [...] Following the completion of filming in October 2013, the second phase of the project involved making the films and other research material publically available, primarily via [a] website [...] designed to invite dialogue around the issues that the films raise. This research aims to better understand how young people experience these realities and what would enable them to have a greater stake in their neighbourhood".

It was initiated by researchers, scientists & educators and encourages people to participate through an online platform, research & learning, and storytelling. Creating Hackney as Home is local in orientation and concerned with neighbourhood & community.

It was launched in 2013 and ends in 2015.
