The aim is to encourage a popular debate over policy issues, and ultimately persuade ordinary people with experience of the real world to run for parliament in 2015, on a platform decided on by you the people".

It was initiated by a journalist and encourages people to participate through organising & campaigning and voting. Democracy 2015 is national in orientation and concerned with democracy, politics & representation.

It was launched in October 2012 and ends in 2015.
