European Citizens Initiative logo Copyrighted  image Icon Copyright: European Citizens Initiative European Citizens' Initiative "allows one million EU citizens to participate directly in the development of EU policies, by calling on the European Commission to make a legislative proposal".

It was initiated by government and encourages people to participate through an online platform. European Citizens' Initiative is transnational in orientation and concerned with anti-discrimination, equality & social justice, democracy, politics & representation, economy, education, environment & sustainability, media democratisation and public services.

It was launched in 2011 and is ongoing.
