Part 2 - Core Stages in the Journey

In this module, you have followed the journey of digital evidence through a system of roles, documents, decisions, and communications.

You have seen that digital evidence is not just collected and analysed in a vacuum. It is shaped by who handles it, what is asked of it, how it is documented, and how information about it is passed on. 

You have also seen those formal procedures matter, but they are not the whole story. Informal communication, local practices, professional familiarity, urgency, and varying national structures all play a part in how evidence moves through the system.

This does not mean the system is broken. It means the system is human, practical, and shaped by real working conditions.  

In the next module, we will build on this by asking a more difficult question: if this is how the journey works, where can things begin to go wrong?
