Tips for staying safe on the Internet

  • Don’t open emails from strangers
  • Make sure your antivirus program and devices are up to date
  • Use strong passwords
  • Use two-factor authentication - this requires you to verify your identity after you’ve logged in using your username and password. An example of this is verifying your identity by entering a code sent by text to your phone or by email.
  • Don’t click on strange-looking links
  • Avoid using unsecured public Wi-Fi
  • Back up your data regularly
  • Avoid sharing personal information
