1. Understanding Your Current Position

Whatever your situation after graduating, whether you’ve had part time work, completed a short-term contract or course, been volunteering, or you’ve been unemployed since your graduation ceremony, you’re in the right place. This is the resource for you.

Firstly, have you experienced any of these since graduating?

  • Loss
  • Excitement
  • Confusion
  • Resentment
  • Hope
  • Fear
  • Anxiety
  • Optimism
  • Separation
  • Nostalgia
  • Pessimism
  • Uncertainty

These, and many more are common feelings and thoughts associated with transition, in a wide variety of contexts. Give yourself credit, as a graduate, you have experienced a lot in the last few months, from handing over the keys for your student flat, to not having your friends nearby, to the stress of trying to decide what you want to do in the future and taking steps to achieve those goals. You’re doing great, and you’re not alone. We all go through periods of transition in life, and this is one of the most difficult.

So, which transition are you about to face and which do you want to aim towards:

  • Find a new job
  • Gain some work experience or a placement
  • Apply to further study
  • Move abroad
  • Travel
  • Something else?

This course will not hand you the above, but it will give you resources, point you in the right direction, and give you tangible steps to take to help you to set and meet achievable goals. You’ll gain knowledge and tools which allow you to exert control over the way you move forward.
