Module 2: Understanding a Child’s Right to Freedom From Violence

  3. To apply the general principles to addressing violence against children

Introduction

In the previous module we elaborated how developments in child protection have evolved towards a more explicit child rights based approach. This module will explore in more detail what the Convention on the Rights of the Child says about the right of every child to protection from all forms of violence. It will examine the need to apply the four general principles in the Convention when addressing such violence. (see Unit 2, Module 2 for details of the general principles)
