I've not joined LinkedIn yet; I don't know enough about it to feel comfortable.

You are absolutely right. You don't have to join if you are not comfortable with it. I don't have a profile in Linkedin! It works for a lot of people, but do you need it? At least at the moment, I don't think I do. For a project, for instance, it may be a little bit different: you can connect to others but give away no personal information. I was wondering if others think LinkedIn is more valuable if you have employment, or, if it could be a valuable tool if you are unemployed?

That's a good question. I don't use LinkedIn but my guess is that having your professional profile out there can help you make connections that could lead to employment... let's see what others say.

I don't use LinkedIn either and agree with Beatriz that if you're looking for employment, it can be a powerful tool.
