Level 1 Act 3 Def of Leadership

I agree with the definition that, ‘leadership is a collaborative, political and participative practice that provides direction, energy and critical engagement on issues that are made to matter.’

Personally

It’s really important that it provides direction and this direction I think should be mutually agreed in order to establish engagement in the vision or goal.

Leadership is about getting people to comprehend and believe in the vision you set for the company and to work with you on achieving your goals.

Hi Michael

You capture the tension between direction-setting and the process of achieving mutual agreement that one might argue is at the heart of leadership.  Still further we argue that the shared process of direction setting makes some issues matter more, while others are pushed into the background.

We'd love to hear participants' experiences of managing this tension.
