1.2 Interpretive criteria

A breakpoint is the MIC that is considered to be the cut-off between susceptible and resistant isolates. It can be an epidemiological cut-off (ECOFF) value or a clinical breakpoint; in both cases, values above the breakpoint signify resistance, while values below the breakpoint signify susceptibility.
