Welcome to Research skills for PhD Students. This site hosts a growing collection of online resource training modules developed for The Open University PhD students, particularly those working part-time and/or at a distance.

Each module is linked to the Vitae Researcher Development Framework, and contains readings and activities to support your professional development.

The modules of resources are designed for you to work through remotely at your own pace, and each is divided into a number of units. You can either work through a whole module, or select just the units that are most relevant to your current training needs.

You’ll receive a certificate for each unit or module you complete, which you can download and add to PGR Manager as evidence of your progress towards your development goals.
