Welcome to Get Set for Success: Digital Energy Basics
- Are you finishing university and applying for roles in the digital energy sector – focused on administration, support, sales or finance?
- Do you work in a non-technical role in the digital energy sector but are curious to learn more about new technologies and processes?
- Are you employed in a sector connected to the digital energy transition such as logistics, building or industry?
- Do you want to understand why the use of digital technologies in the production and consumption of energy is important?
If the answer to any of these questions is “Yes” – then this course is for you! In this five-week course we provide you with a solid foundation and understanding of energy digitalisation within the European context. The course will also help support you in your career development in this area. Each week covers a different topic:
- In Week One: What is the digital energy transition and why is it important? we explore what the digital energy transition is and why it matters. We also examine what policies support the digital energy transition in Europe.
- Week Two: Supporting the digital energy transition: Your career explores the different types of roles - and skills needed - for non-technical professions in the digital energy sector. We also take a closer look at what the future of digital energy jobs might look like.
- During Week Three: Energy use and smart devices we look at how we produce and consume energy. What kinds of technologies are used and what role do smart devices play?
- Week Four: A closer examination of electricity markets takes a closer look at energy markets and the impact of digitalisation. How and why does the price of energy fluctuate? Who makes decisions about the cost of energy? This week looks at the basics of demand response and dynamic pricing.
- We end the course by looking at the importance of working together. Week Five: Working together for a better world takes a deeper look at European community initiatives to support renewable energy production and consumption. What role does digitalisation play in community energy initiatives?
