    Safeguarding in Football

    Botshelo Tapologo21 October 2026 12:45

I have learned that safeguarding is important in football because it protects children and adults from abuse, neglect, bullying, discrimination, and other forms of harm. Everyone involved in football has a responsibility to protect players and ensure their safety.

I have learned the importance of recognising signs of abuse, listening to players, reporting safeguarding concerns, and taking appropriate action. Safeguarding concerns must be treated seriously, and information must be handled confidentially.

As a member of Strong Boys & Ladies United FC, I will help ensure that all players feel safe, respected, and supported, especially young players under the age of 18. I will encourage everyone at the club to follow safeguarding rules and report any concerns to the appropriate person.

My goal is to help create a safe and positive football environment for everyone.

The Material Review. The Baseline of Safeguarding in Football

Having gone through all the courses, it is essential to give a concise and unbiased review of the courses and processes, the lessons and other take home. This is not just an ordinary course but special training that was tailored and targeted at reshaping the attitudes, mentality, humanity, moral and professional standards in all participants, sports people and stakeholders, especially the managements, coaches, all staffs, players and parent etc. The lives of the players and their well being, safety and security, emotional standards etc are very important. However, achieving the goals of the safeguarding efforts of fifa can remain a mirage without adequate training and orientation of critical and other stakeholder at all levels. This will create strong awareness of the people at the essentials of safeguarding. Kudos to fifa and all those that were involved in setting up this noble process and I am particularly glad for the opportunity of being a successful graduand of this noble course.
I will however suggest that fifa should have the pools of successful graduands of this course as ambassadors and be assigned where necessary recommended for various federations and confederations, so that the training would be well utilized.
