    • Welcome to FIFA Guardians™ Starting your Safeguarding Journey

This course is for Global Football Community Learners and is part of the FIFA Guardians™ Safeguarding in Football Award.

This course focuses on building support for your early work in safeguarding, assessing and prioritising safeguarding risks, and developing your organisation’s safeguarding policy, safeguarding reporting and your organisation’s response to concerns.

The course is divided into seven 90-minute sessions for you to study at your own pace. There are also quizzes that, along with the sessions, make up 12 hours of online learning for you to complete at your own pace.

It is important to know that completing this education programme will not guarantee footballing environments and activities to be 100% safe. Inappropriately designed programmes and poor operational management can put people, especially children and youth, at risk of harm. We hope that by taking this course, risk of harm can be identified and reduced and that everyone can participate in football in a safe and supportive environment, free from all forms of harassment and abuse.

If you have a concern about the content of this course, you can report it by clicking on the 'report a concern' button.

If you want to earn a FIFA/Open University course certificate and digital badge for your learning, you will need to do the following:

      1. Enrol on the course. Once you have done so, you’ll be returned to this screen.
      2. Complete the two declarations about your eligibility to study the course.
      3. Complete the course content to the end. Ensure that all seven sessions have been completed (including watching all videos to the end) and that each section of a session has a green tick next to it.
      4. Score 70% or higher in each of the three course quizzes. If you don’t pass one first time, you can retake each quiz again as many times as you need until you do pass.

Please note: If you are a Nominated FIFA Learner, you need to enrol on the Nominated FIFA Learner pathway.

FIFA Guardians Safeguarding Essentials Course Review

    Sabbath War12 June 2026 8:12

This course was very helpful and easy to understand. It taught me the importance of protecting children and young players in football.

As a football coach, I learned more about safeguarding, respect, safe behaviour, and how to report concerns when something is wrong.

I believe this course is important for every coach, volunteer, and football leader who works with young people. Thank you for providing this course.
