Welcome to Safeguarding Essentials
This course is for everyone in sport. It has been developed with support from the Australian Government (Team Up), the Commonwealth Games Federation, the International Ice Hockey Federation, the International Platform on Sport and Development (sportanddev), the International Skating Union, the International Ski and Snowboard Federation, the International Tennis Federation, and World Netball.
The content for this course was originally developed by FIFA and has been revised to suit a more general sport audience. We would like to thank FIFA for all their support.
This course is an introduction to essential safeguarding knowledge for sport; the course explains what safeguarding is, why it is important, and how you can help reduce safeguarding risks and respond appropriately to any safeguarding concerns.
The 90-minute course is divided into three 30-minute sessions for you to complete at your own pace. The course explains how safeguarding is everybody’s responsibility.
It is important to know that completing this education programme will not guarantee sporting environments and activities to be 100% safe for children and adults. Inappropriately designed programmes and poor operational management can put children and adults at risk of harm. We hope that by taking this course, risk of harm can be identified and reduced and that everyone can participate in sport in a safe and supportive environment, free from all forms of abuse, harassment and exploitation.
If you have a concern about the content of this course, you can report it by clicking on the 'report a concern' button. This is NOT to be used to report safeguarding concerns. Safeguarding concerns should be reported following your own organisational procedures.
To access the quiz you must complete the pre course declaration and survey, then visit all the course content.
