Teacher resource for planning or adapting to use with pupils

Here are three different ways of presenting the same recipe.

Making pepper soup (flow chart)

Wash and cut meat, such as beef, into small pieces

Cook the meat in boiling water

Chop onions, tomatoes and peppers

Add chopped onions, tomatoes and peppers to meat and stir

Add enough water to cover and leave on low heat

Wash, clean, chop and add any other vegetables

Leave to simmer until meat is tender

Eat with rice or boiled yam

Making pepper soup (process description)

When pepper soup is prepared, 0.5 kg beef is washed and cut into pieces. The meat is cooked in boiling water, and the onion, tomatoes, vegetables and peppers are added. These are simmered until they are tender; then they are eaten with rice or boiled yam.

Making pepper soup (ingredients and method) Ingredients:

0.5 kg of beef (washed and cut in pieces)

4 onions

8 tomatoes

4 to 5 (or to taste) hot dried chilli peppers

Other vegetables, as available

1.5 litres of water

Method:

Put water in a pan and bring to boil.

Add meat pieces and simmer.

Add chopped onions, tomatoes, peppers and other vegetables, stir and leave to simmer.

When meat is tender, pour soup into bowls and eat with rice or boiled yam.

Making honey fruit drink (flow chart)

Wash the fruits.

Peel 1 pineapple.

Slice the pineapple and 2 lemons.

Boil 2 litres water and 200 ml honey.

Add lemons and pineapples.

Simmer until tender.

Leave them to cool.

Sieve the juice and serve.

1 pineapple is peeled and sliced together with 2 lemons. 2 litres of water and 200 ml of honey are boiled, and the fruits are added. The mixture is simmered until tender, then left to cool. The mixture is sieved and served.
