TESSA is an international research and development initiative which brings together teachers and teacher educators from across Sub-Saharan Africa. It offers a range of materials (Open Educational Resources - OER) in four languages to support school-based teacher education and training.
The OER support the primary curriculum and lower secondary science. They are ‘educative’ resources which means that they provide ideas for engaging lessons and help teachers to develop the range of teaching approaches they use. They have been used by millions of teachers all over Africa, including pre-service, in-service and those that are unqualified.
They are helpful for teacher educators because they provide classroom examples that can be discussed in a group.
