This intermediate-level certification recognises practical experience in MAED (Model for Analysis of Energy Demand) modelling. The certification emphasises hands-on experience with developing national-scale MAED modelling systems, calibrating a basic model, conducting scenario analysis, and the addressing real-world energy planning challenges.
Applicants will earn the MAED - Bronze Proficiency Badge if their submission meets the following criteria:
1. Completed an intermediate-level in-person training course for MAED (e.g. a CCG EMP summer school or equivalent)
2. Submitted a project report or modelling case study demonstrating the application of learned skills
Evidence required:
· Upload evidence of attending an in-person training course or master's module / course i.e. certificate of completion/graduation.
· Provide Zenodo links to materials produced from the course i.e. project report, posters, policy briefs, assessments etc
MAED – Proficiency Badges
The MAED (Model for Analysis of Energy Demand) Badge recognizes excellence in applying the International Atomic Energy Agency’s analytical framework for energy demand assessment. It honors individuals or organizations using scenario-based modelling to evaluate future energy requirements and support sustainable energy planning. Recipients demonstrate skill in integrating socio-economic, technological, and demographic data into coherent demand projections. The badge highlights leadership in evidence-based policymaking, strategic foresight, and contributions to achieving SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy. It celebrates analytical rigor, innovation, and collaboration in advancing sustainable and inclusive energy systems.
