Course: Energy and Flexibility Modelling: OSeMOSYS & FlexTool (June 2021)
This badge has been issued for participating in the activities in the free non-accredited Energy and Flexibility Modelling course. This free course supported demonstration of the following key learning outcomes:
1. Describe and differentiate between the main/ large energy conversion processes and connect them to their resource needs, costs and performance as well as their environmental impact. And, link them to trends of ongoing political processes and international technology and market development.
2. Analyse how alternative configurations of the energy system as a whole (from resource extraction to end use of energy services) can relate to sustainability in general, interact with the global sustainability goals in particular and affect national energy security.
3. Explain the underlying logic in key concepts in energy economy modelling, including whole energy system interactions, long term GHG mitigation scenarios and system flexibility requirements for variable renewable integration. Work through a demonstration using stylised examples.
4. Understand how to reach U4RIA goals so that energy modelling activities are accessible to key communities (Ubuntu), retrievable, reusable, repeatable, re-constructible, interoperable, and auditable.
5. Become a competent user of the use of the Open Source energy Modelling System (OSeMOSYS.org) and FlexTOOL for renewables integration.
