Making teacher education relevant for 21st century Africa
Welcome to Making teacher education relevant for 21st century Africa, based on the award-winning TESSA MOOC of the same name. The course looks at ways of supporting teachers and teacher educators in developing new approaches to teaching, in particular:
- active teaching and learning, and what they look like in practice
- the potential of ICT to support active teaching and learning
- using OER in general, and TESSA resources in particular.
You can study on your own or with a group of colleagues. If internet access is a problem, you can download all the course content (except for the quizzes) and study offline. You will need to return online to complete the quizzes.
This course is free and gives you the opportunity to earn a free certificate with a digital badge as a recognition of your learning. You will be able to download and print your certificate, or attach your digital badge to your online professional profile.
To access the course materials, pass the quizzes and collect your certificate and badge, you will need to enrol. If you already have an Open University account, just sign in to enrol. Otherwise, create an account for free to enable you to enrol. Once you’ve signed in, return to this page and click on the ‘Enrol’ button above. You will then be ready to start the course.
