    • Welcome to Applied Business Concepts

      Through lectures, discussions, and projects, students will be immersed in an array of models and theories that facilitate effective application of information technology to strategic planning, market analysis, promotional and sales operations. Emphasis is placed on search engine optimization and web site improvement. Students will gain perspective on ethics and best practices of marketing online, identifying compliance issues, and a review of security and protection of intellectual property.

    Upon completing this course, the student will have a working knowledge of the subject matter listed below.

    • Define and explain digital marketing
    • Compare and contrast traditional marketing and digital marketing
    • Identify the overall strategic marketing issues within an organization
    • Define what a business model is and how it relates to an organization’s strategy
    • Describe the four steps for adapting the business model to external changes
    • Identify the main reasons why people buy online
    • Describe the different phases in the consumer purchasing process
    • Explain how data and analytics can be used to formulate customer insights
    • Explain what content marketing is and describe what a content marketing plan should look like
    • Explain how digital marketers can use search engine optimization (SEO) to increase the effectiveness of their websites
