Resource 3: Assessing pen-pal letters
Teacher resource for planning or adapting to use with pupils
- Does the letter create a lively and interesting picture of the writer? What details could be added to make it more interesting?
- Is the information clearly expressed? Is the letter easy to read?
- Are different topics dealt with in different paragraphs?
- Is it in the correct tense? (A description is likely to be in the present tense.) Is each verb in the present tense or, if not, is there a good reason for a different tense? (You can decide what other structure features you want to focus on in this activity.)
