Your course home page will need a title, image and overview.
To put a heading (text) directly onto the home page click on the dropdown arrow of the 'Add a resource' box
Select 'Heading' from the list
Enter the heading
You probably won't need to amend the 'Common module settings' (default set to show visible) or 'Restrict access' (which allows you to add restrictions of who can see the heading).
Click on 'Save and return to unit'
Add course image
It is a good idea to have an image on the home page of your course. This will help give it a distinct identity.
The recommended size for the course image on the home page is 401pixels x 292pixels. Maximum width for an image is 512 pixels.
To put a course image directly onto the home page click on the dropdown arrow of the 'Add a resource' box
Click on the image icon when the Label text box appears and find or upload an image. The image properties screen will appear.

Choose the licence (using the dropdown box - the default is 'Creative Commons - No Commercial ShareAlike, the other alternative is 'All rights reserved').
Click on 'Upload this file' and the image properties screen will appear.
Type in the image description to describe the image for someone who cannot see it (their screen reader software will read this). You can also adjust the size of the image and choose the vertical alignment.
Click on 'Save image'
When the image appears in the label box, align it using the appropriate align icon (centre looks best for the home page image).
Click on 'Save and return to course'
Add a course overview
You will need a course overview to welcome people and explain what your course is all about. The overview needs to be short, if there is additional information, you can put this on a separate page with a link from the overview on the home page.
Click on the dropdown arrow of the 'Add a resource box
Select 'Label' from the list
Insert your course overview text to the 'label text' box.
Click on 'save and return to course'.
