Welcome to OpenWASH

This collection of modules has been developed primarily for people who are training to work in the water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) sector in Ethiopia.  The collection supports the Ethiopian Government’s One WASH National Programme. The modules can also be used for in-service training of new employees and by more experienced practitioners seeking to improve their knowledge and skills on specific topics. Anyone interested in using the modules within the collection can do so for free.

Five OpenWASH modules were developed in partnership between the Open University, World Vision Ethiopia and UNICEF and were launched in 2016:

WASH: Context and Environment

Urban Water Supply

Urban Sanitation and Solid Waste Management

Urban WASH: Working with People

Ethiopia's One WASH National Programme

In 2018, the Open University and WaterAid Ethiopia collaborated to produce a sixth module:

Count me in! Inclusive WASH in Ethiopia

The collection also includes a Trainers’ Handbook that provides guidance on how the modules can be used in a variety of teaching contexts.

If you plan to use the modules or have any comments or questions please contact OUDO-International-Enquiries@open.ac.uk
