Welcome to the UK Aid SPHEIR programme Transformation by Innovation in Distance Education (TIDE) collection of online course for higher education students.

TIDE is a four year project (2018-2021) led by The Open University in the United Kingdom which aims to improve the quality of higher education in Myanmar at a critical time in the country’s development. You can read more about the TIDE project at https://www.spheir.org.uk/partnership-profiles/transformation-innovation-distance-education.

One part of the work of TIDE is to help support the introduction of online courses into the distance education programmes offered in Myanmar. To do so we need to understand what are the skills and capabilities of prospective and current students and also their views about online study. This site has been set up with three free online courses taken from The Open University that cover some basic skills and capabilities that we believe students taking online course will need to have, although do note they are UK centric in part and have not been customized for students in Myanmar:

We want current higher education students in Myanmar to study one or more of these courses and complete both the start-of-course and end-of-course surveys associated with them. This feedback will help the TIDE partners support universities in Myanmar in transforming their distance education programmes as they begin to develop online courses.

To study one or more of these courses you need to create an account on this site which you can learn how to do by watching this video. Most of all we hope you find the courses themselves both interesting and helpful to yourselves.
