What is SKIP?

Students for Kids International Projects is:
A student-led, UK-based charity
Working to improve the welfare of vulnerable children in sustainable international projects in low- and middle-income countries
Aimed at creating forward thinking, empathic, globally and culturally aware students who can go on to advocate and influence local and global health and development as professionals for the future.

SKIP branches are student organisations based at UK universities which are affiliated with the SKIP national charity, existing as members of the network. At the time of writing (27/08/20) there are over 10 SKIP branches.

  Board of Trustees
  The Trustees are responsible for the overall strategic vision and direction of the charity, leading on organisational development and in ensuring the charity is compliant with all legal and financial requirements as set out by commissioning bodies. All Trustees have a minimum term of 3 years and are elected by a panel made up of a branch member, a national committee member, a trustee and an independent chair.
  
  Supporting Alumni and Working groups
  Working groups are made up mainly of dedicated Supporting Alumni (sometimes with external advisors and branch members too) and are led by Trustees or specific members of the National Committee. The Groups are designed to assist the development and implementation of key areas of SKIP’s activities.
  1. Training (TWiG)—assist in delivering quality training and development of training trainers programme
  2. Mentoring—provide effective mentoring working with corresponding NC Buddies
  3. RnD Hub—to conduct audits and research at a national level to identify areas for review and strengthening policy/guidance.
  4. Treasury and legal—to support the work of national and branch treasurers whilst monitoring legal activity.
  
  National Committee (NC)
  The NC is there to oversee the daily running of the charity. They each have a specific role for which they take the lead on and assist their counterparts at branch level (e.g. publicity). Each member also has a ‘buddy branch’ for they provide support with the planning and development of projects. They are elected annually at the General Assembly.
  
  Branches
  Branch committees are exciting opportunities to learn more about SKIP and developing skills to improve the activities of the branch and associated projects. All SKIP branches attend SKIP Big Weekends for training, and volunteers are welcomed and encouraged to attend! For more information about Branch activities get in touch with your local branch.

What is an intervention?
ExpandWhat is an intervention?
SKIP interventions are acts performed for, with or on behalf of a person or population whose purpose is to assess, improve, maintain or promote child welfare.
These interventions should have a strong evidence base and need to be continually monitored and evaluated.

Branches deliver these interventions in collaboration with local non-governmental organisations (NGOs). These NGOs are often called collaborating organisations (COs) within SKIP. COs should have shared values and work with our branches towards a shared goal.

Each Branch has varying interventions within their community project. SKIP’s interventions can broadly be classified into the following areas:
Health promotion
Water and sanitation
Nutrition
Education
Supporting people with disabilities
Project cycle

A project cycle is the sequence of phases that a project goes through from its initiation to its end (withdrawal). The number of stages and sequence of the cycle are determined by the management and various other factors like needs of the organisation involved in the project, the nature of the project, and its location of application.

End of module quiz-
To access the quiz click on the quiz icon and click start attempt.
Answer the questions (you can always check back to the module if you're unsure of an answer).
Click 'submit all and finish' to finish your attempt.
Click 'finish review' when you have checked your answers.

You need to score 80% or over to complete the quiz. If you have scored under 8 you will need to complete the quiz again. Click on start another attempt to try again.
You can repeat the quiz as many times as you like.

Feedback Form-
Click on 'Answer the questions' to open the form.
Answer the questions and click 'submit questionnaire'. Press 'continue' before navigating to the conformation of completion of module' (click the end of module quiz tab on the left hand side).

Confirmation of completion of module -
Click 'Start attempt' and read the information. Once you are happy you have completed all of the criteria please enter your name and the date in the signature box.
Click 'finish attempt' to submit. Then 'submit all and finish'.
This will then be checked by the online trainer who will mark it as complete.

Once the SKIP Online Trainer has reviewed your course completion you will then receive a statement of participation to your email. Please download and save this for your records.
